What has been your favorite episode of Season 3 thus far?

AR302b_0431bDEREK: Funny enough considering my last comments, “Sara” has resonated with me the most. It’s a very well put-together episode, and made a lot of surprising choices with how to handle the aftermath of Sara’s death that I don’t know I’ve seen done before on other shows. I loved how it highlighted and contrasted the way Laurel, Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle all dealt with their grief and memorialized Sara in their own ways. It alleviated my fears that Sara would be just another “women in refrigerators” victim (even though she’s literally stuffed in a freezer at one point…) but that her death meant something to the show as a whole, not just for shock factor or squarely for one hero’s development. “Sara” worked better as a springboard for the whole season than the actual premiere did, honestly. And I’m a sucker for ending on a moody pop music montage.

AR304b_0311bSTEPHANIE: My favorites have been “The Magician” and “The Brave and the Bold” for similar reasons. They were both intense, engaging episodes. There were great fights and equally as great character moments, and that combination is what I love about Arrow. “The Magician” took major strides in the murder investigation, and Oliver questioning what to do with Malcolm if he was Sara’s killer was a nice warm up for Oliver to decide what to do once he finds out Thea killed her. Then for “The Brave and the Bold,” Captain Boomerang was an awesome and frightening villain.

I also enjoyed “The Calm” quite a bit because there were several scenes that were lighter and more cutesy than we’re used to on Arrow. It was a tonally different episode, and that made it interesting.

FLA108b_0147b(1)CRAIG: This is kind of cheating: The Flash episode “Flash vs. Arrow” was my favorite. I loved seeing Diggle’s reaction to… everything. I liked the humor, and I liked that Oliver always made it clear who is boss.

AR308b_0158bMATT: For pure enjoyment, probably “The Brave and the Bold.” I think the second part of the crossover with The Flash was handled quite well, and I look forward to more Digger Harkness. For the main thrust of Season 3, I’m torn between “Corto Maltese,” “The Magician,” and “Guilty.” The relationship with Malcolm is going to play a big part heading into the latter part of the season, and I thought the first two set that up well. I was also a fan of the parallels between Ted Grant and Isaac Stanzler with Oliver and Roy, and the conflict between Oliver and Laurel over Ted.
