What do you think of Black Canary’s new costume?

STEPHANIE: Similar to Wild Dog’s costume, the evolution of Black Canary’s costume seems appropriate. Rocking leather pants is a right of passage into Team Arrow. I absolutely love the design along the shoulders and sides that looks like fish scales, and the gold strands add a nice pop of a canary color, but I’m confused why she (and formerly Oliver) decided to have parts of their arms exposed. They’re not bulletproof or immune from knife slashes, so it’s not a smart move to leave parts of themselves vulnerable to attack.

CRAIG: I do hope that eventually this Canary has blonde hair as well, but I like it. It reminds me a lot of Dinah’s costume in the Birds of Prey comics as well as her early “New 52” look. Sara Lance may have had my favorite Canary costume of the three, but I do like this one.

MATT: I like it. It’s tough when you’re dealing with the third iteration of a character, particularly in live action. I do find it interesting they decided to drop going with a blond wig. It makes sense given that the city acknowledges that the Black Canary had been killed in action. Still, I would like for them to finally solidify the character before the series is out.

MELISSA: I wasn’t terribly impressed by Dinah’s outfit when I saw the first pictures. The short sleeves paired with long gloves looked particularly odd. Gloves that high above the elbow belong to Regency Era ballrooms or veterinarians performing deeply hands on examinations of large livestock. But seeing it live in action, I think the new Black Canary costume looks good. I like how it has a sportier edge than what came before in Laurel’s tight, black suit with extra buckles or Sara’s impractically low cut bustier.
