What do you think of the Season 4 flashbacks?

MATT: I’ve liked them, so far. They feel pointed and progressive each time we see them. They also feel like they inform the present in a way that the season 2 flashbacks did. Season 3’s flashbacks provided some connection with the present, but it often felt like they were spinning their wheels. This year doesn’t feel unsure of what it is telling us.

Conklin Connects with OliverSTEPHANIE: I feel the same way I felt about them in early season one. I’m interested in seeing where they go because they’re not hooking me right now.

DEREK: They have more narrative momentum than the Hong Kong flashbacks did, as Oliver’s status and state seems to shift with every episode. It still has the typical flashback problem of not being nearly as interesting as anything else, and none of the new characters have stood out much. But it hasn’t been a slog, and I’m genuinely interested to see how it all plays out.

CRAIG: I want to like the flashbacks, I want to be invested, and in the premiere I thought I might be, and maybe the Constantine flashback was decent, but beyond that… I’ll be honest… I’m not invested. I don’t know what it take for me to become so, but right now, I’m not feeling it.

Come back in a few days as we look forward to the second half of Season 4!
