Team GATV Roundtable: Looking Back At The First Half Of Arrow Season 4
Opinion January 7, 2016 Craig Byrne
Are you excited for Legends of Tomorrow? If yes, why? If no, why not?
STEPHANIE: Legends of Tomorrow looks like the right amount of crazy and a series that’s weird in a good way. I’ve been excited about it since it was announced, originally because it includes several characters that I’ve enjoyed watching over the years. I’m looking forward to seeing Caity Lotz’s Sara back on screen after her unwelcomed death. Captain Cold and Heat Wave are always a fun duo, and it doesn’t hurt that I love Prison Break. And then Martin Stein, because how can you not love Victor Garber. In addition, the trailers for the series make the production value look incredibly high, so I’m interested to see how they accomplish the vision on a CW budget.
MATT: I wouldn’t say excited, but looking forward to it. I think I still would’ve preferred a show based around my original speculation on the spinoff, an anthology series that featured a number of different heroes and not necessarily a team-based show. But the potential for the show to delve into Kirby-eqsue weirdness given the time travel and the make-up of the team is very promising.
DEREK: Sure! I’m probably not as over-the-moon as some people are, just because I’m feeling the Superhero TV fatigue right now, but it’s no doubt going to be a fun show. I’ve actually seen a lot of people excited for it that weren’t previously into Arrow or The Flash, oddly enough. I’m guessing it’s a combination of Supergirl reaching a bigger audience, Arthur Darvill roping in Doctor Who fans, and people on a Star Wars high wanting more science-fantasy fun. The timing is kind of perfect for this show, the more I think about it. I’m just interested to see how the heck all these elements are going to be juggled. They have a solid enough cast at the foundation that, even if it gets messy, the characters should hold it together.
CRAIG: I’ve seen the first two episodes already, and I’m cautiously curious. I will admit that of the whole ensembles, there are only a few characters that have really popped for me, so I’m hoping it grows on me. I’m sure once they enter other eras of DC Universe history I’m going to go nuts – especially if we see characters like the Golden Age Sandman, Jonah Hex, or Sgt. Rock, all of whom have relics in the Waverider.
