The GreenArrowTV team looks back at Arrow Season 5 in a roundtable discussion. Team GATV Roundtable: Looking Back At Arrow Season 5

How did Season 5 stack up or rank against Seasons 1-4?

MATT: I’m quite tempted to put it as the second best season of the series. I’m still getting a feel if it overtakes Season 1 for that. It’s clearly a better season than either 3 or 4.

CRAIG: I’d put it in at #3, and that’s not a suggestion of now not-excellent it is. It’s just, Season 2 was the high bar for me with Season 1 a very close second, especially as I’ve been watching some Season 1 episodes lately and realizing how great the show was even at the start. As I mentioned before, Season 5 reminded me of the Arrow I originally fell in love with. So, yes, I was very happy with it.

STEPHANIE: Pretty much the same answer as Craig and Matt. Better than seasons 3 and 4. Not as great as 2.

MELISSA: I’m going to be difficult. I can’t rank season five because I can’t easily rank the other seasons either. There is something good and bad in all of them.

I still love the first half of season four, but pretty much despise the later section. Season five, I had nearly the opposite experience. Season two started and ended strong but had a deeply dull stretch in the middle, while season one took forever to find its groove and three had clusters of greatness amid pockets of abject misery.

The most I can say is season five left me in a positive place with the show and the characters, and I’m happily anticipating season six. A very nice change from how I felt when we were going into season five.
