Stephen Amell talked about Arrow Season 5 at the recent Wizard World Philadelphia convention, and when asked if the Russian Bratva would be the subject of the flashbacks for next year, Amell confirmed with a “Yes.”
“Typically by now, I would have gone to the writers’ room and we would have had long, lengthy discussions about the upcoming season,” he continued. “I wrapped Arrow [and] I had a really nice end-of-season dinner with Greg Berlanti, which is what I always do. We chat about the good, the bad, the ugly, what’s coming, what’s happened, et cetera, et cetera, but we had that, and I literally haven’t been home since the beginning of May. I have a meeting with the writing team on Wednesday. I’m going to get the full down low next week,” he said.
The Bratva storyline in Russia is one of the major areas not yet explored from Oliver’s five years on the metaphorical island, and many had already suspected that it would be coming.
Also in the discussion, Stephen confirmed another vigilante from the DC Universe next season, and addressed how the Season 5 villain is “a callback to Season One.”
“That’s something you can do when you’re in Season Five,” he says. “The villain we’re going to have coming in is really going to ground the show.”
