Season 5 Cover Countdown: More Fun Comics #103

Every year on GreenArrowTV’s Twitter feed and Facebook page, we’d count down to the new season’s premiere with a classic Green Arrow-related comic book cover. After all, it was the comic books that inspired the TV series to begin with.

Since there had sometimes been confusion about the covers without any context, this year we’re going to describe the comic book covers that we are showing. The issue numbers on the comics will correspond to the number of days left before Season 5 begins. For example, there are 103 days left until Arrow Season 5, considering The CW has announced an October 5 premiere date.

More Fun Comics #103

More Fun Comics was the first series to regularly star Green Arrow and Speedy (the first Speedy being a much younger Roy Harper), way back in comic books’ Golden Age. Oliver Queen didn’t yet have the goatee and he had very red gloves for the first few decades of his comic book career. As this cover — the last to feature GA & Speedy in this series — indicates, humor characters like “Dover and Clover” soon took over More Fun, and the archers then moved on to Adventure Comics where they had a long run.
