“Captain Jack” In Starling City: John Barrowman Comes To Arrow
NewsSpoilers August 15, 2012 Craig Byrne
One of the most popular sci-fi actors of the past decade is making his way to Arrow in a recurring role.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that John Barrowman has signed on to Arrow as a “well-dressed man” who is “as mysterious as he is wealthy … he is an acquaintance of the Queen family and a prominent figure in Starling City.” No further details are known about the character yet, and at this point, we have no guesses as to who that character will be.
Barrowman played “Captain Jack Harkness” on Doctor Who and in four seasons of its spin-off series, Torchwood.
No confirmation yet on when the episodes will be airing, though we do know the show is about to shoot episodes that would land squarely in November sweeps.
Here’s some interesting trivia courtesy of Colin Donnell on Twitter: Both Colin, who currently plays “Tommy Merlyn” on Arrow, and Mr. Barrowman have played “Billy Crocker”on stage in Anything Goes. Nice connection, eh? That makes us wonder if Barrowman might be playing Merlyn’s father… just some speculation there. Nothing has been said or confirmed to point in that direction.
