Team GATV Midseason Roundtable: Arrow Season 5 So Far
Opinion January 24, 2017 Craig Byrne
What do you think of the spoilers that are known so far (if you know of any)?
CRAIG: It seems that our “resurrected Laurel” is Black Siren, which is cool and all, though I hope that leads to a redemption arc for the character. After all, the Black Canary we all knew from the comics came from Earth-2 (in at least one version of the story… it gets complicated. Don’t ask.) Talia al Ghul is coming, and I can only hope she’s even a quarter as cool as Katrina Law’s Nyssa. And then there’s Tina Boland. What’s her deal? Is her character really called “Tina Boland” or is that a code for something else?
MELISSA: I’m cringing about Tina and the likelihood of her being the New Canary, but I’m trying to keep an open mind until after she’s on screen and I see how she’s introduced and incorporated onto the team. Beyond that, I am looking forward to several things: the introduction of Talia, the team’s trip to Russia, Quentin being back, addressing Diggle’s trumped up charges, incorporating Adrian Chase more into the story and the one that I’m most looking forward to, seeing how Felicity’s dark arc plays out, hopefully with some side capers of her very own.
STEPHANIE: I enjoyed Black Siren on the Flash, so I’m excited to see Katie Cassidy re-inhabit that role. Plus, I’m generally fascinated by doppelgangers and the evil versions of characters who also have a good version. Other than that (and Talia), I’m not caught up on any spoilers that are out there.
MATT: I’ve been surprisingly mostly spoiler free in an effort to just take in the season as it unfolds. I am looking forward to Lexa Doig’s Talia al Ghul, and I’m grateful that the show didn’t write her character off. From what I recall, they’ve never mentioned her on the show. I think it was the Legends of Tomorrow episode with Ra’s al Ghul that introduced the young Talia alongside the young Nyssa back in the past. Still, I’m a bit leery of them revisit the League yet again.
